Totebag featuring Nik Neves illustrated map of Sacramento Street
The Sacramento Street 13” x 15” re-useable canvas tote bag.
In 2015, House Beautiful, a Hearst publication commissioned Nik to illustrate ‘the best shopping districts in America'. Sacramento Street was featured with an abbreviated map of the street and a couple of stores listed. We reached out to Nik a year later and commissioned a timeless illustrated map in his style. The result features the Presidio and the charming vibe of the Sacramento Street boutiques, restaurants, salons and home stores along with the neighbors that stroll our street.
Nik Neves (São Paulo, Brazil, 1976) is a visual artist, working with illustration, drawing and comics. He holds two Bachelor degrees, in Visual Arts (UFRGS – Porto Alegre), and in Advertisement (PUC – Porto Alegre).
In 2004 Nik Neves finishes his Post-graduation Degree in Illustration from EINA (Universitad Autónoma de Barcelona – Spain). Later he studied lettering and comics at SVA (School of Visual Arts) in New York. Much of his work is related to the travel experience, as illustrated maps, sketchbooks, comics, and visual diaries.
Between 2013 and 2016, he took part on the conception and organization of the Independent Publication Fair “Parada Gráfica” at the “Museu do Trabalho” in Porto Alegre, Brazil. In 2018 worked as co-curator at the exhibition MAGMA, during the Comic Festival Fumetto, in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Since 2006 Nik Neves works in his independent project, a magazine called Inútil (meaning “useless”, in Portuguese), where he experiments with comics and other visual narratives. More recently Nik has been exploring the possibilities of comics as moving image and sound narratives.
His international clients include: WORLDWIDE | Moët-Hennessy, Printemps, VOGUE (France/ França) Hearst Corp, SCT, Inspirato, Egon Zehnder, Google, Facebook, Brooklyn Industries (USA/ EUA), Weldon Owen, Lonely Planet, National Geographic (UK/ Reino Unido), American Express Magazine; Rolling Stone Magazine, Cuina and Descobrir Catalunya Magazine (Spain), TAAG Airlines (Angola), Strapazin Magazine (Switzerland/SUIÇA).
